How the conversion works
- Hour → year: rate × hours per week × weeks per year. At 40h × 52 weeks that is rate × 2,080.
- Month → year: monthly × 12. Payroll treats a month as exactly one twelfth of a year, never four weeks.
- Year → hour: annual ÷ (hours per week × weeks per year).
- Day: annual ÷ (days per week × weeks per year), so it reflects the days you are actually paid for.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert an hourly rate to an annual salary?
Multiply the hourly rate by the hours worked per week and then by the weeks worked per year. For a standard full-time job that is rate × 40 hours × 52 weeks. At €20/hour that is €41,600 a year. Change the hours and weeks boxes if your working pattern differs.
How many weeks are in a working year?
A full-time salaried year is normally 52 weeks. Term-time and contract roles are often 46–48 weeks, and some employers use 52.14 weeks (365 ÷ 7) to avoid drift. Set the weeks per year box to match your contract.
Is a month exactly four weeks of pay?
No. Payroll divides annual salary by 12 for a monthly figure, so a month is on average about 4.33 weeks, not 4. Multiplying a monthly salary by 4 understates the annual figure by roughly 8%. This converter always uses annual ÷ 12 for months.
Does this converter take tax into account?
No — it is pure arithmetic, so the figures are gross pay. To estimate net pay after tax and social contributions, use the country calculators linked on this page.
